Sailing Lessons

Mukilteo Yacht Club is now offering sailing lessons to members and their families.  MYC member Jeremy is a US Sailing Association instructor and uses his sailing dinghy (a New Zealand-built Tinker Tramp inflatable boat with a single mainsail).   Our sailing lessons are based on the curriculum of the US Sailing “Learn Sailing Right, Beginning Sailing” course and students receive a copy of the course book.

The first official lessons occurred in June 2019 near beautiful Bell Harbor in downtown Seattle.  Classroom instruction and on-water practice will be provided, weather and venue permitting, at selected MYC cruises when Jeremy is attending the cruise.

There are 3 key lesson plans:

  1. Tacking: Turning with the bow to the wind.
  2. Gybing: Turning with the stern to the wind.
  3. Up-Wind and Down-Wind Sailing: Putting it all together.
